Physical Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders

At Acceleration Physical Therapy, we specialize in treating individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative movement disorders. Our evidence-based approach includes programs like LSVT BIG®, PWR! Moves™ (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery), and targeted training to improve functional mobility, balance, and overall safety.

We go beyond treating symptoms—our goal is to address the underlying motor challenges caused by the disease. Using individualized assessment and amplitude-based training, we help patients improve movement quality and carryover into everyday life. We also address common challenges such as balance problems and fall risk.

Programs are tailored to your unique goals, schedule, and abilities. We empower both patients and caregivers/partners with tools and education to take an active role in managing the disease, promoting independence, slowing progression, and preserving the ability to do what you love for as long as possible.

What to Expect with Neurological Physical Therapy

Your physical therapy journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation. We assess your current mobility, strength, balance, and functional abilities, and we take the time to understand your personal goals. We also include caregivers or partners in the process to provide education and training, ensuring support continues at home.

Most patients benefit from attending therapy 2–3 times per week for 2–4 months. During this time, we focus on improving mobility, strength, balance, and functional movement—especially in the tasks that matter most in your daily life. As you progress and meet your goals, we advance your program accordingly to keep you challenged and motivated.

An integrated home exercise program is also a key part of your care. This reinforces what you learn in therapy and supports neuroplasticity—helping your brain and body adapt and maintain improvements over time.
